CAPE TOWN, South Africa, June 2, 2022/APO Group/ --

The MSGBC region is a lucrative energy market, with sizable reserves across the oil, gas and renewables sectors. While progress has been made to exploit the resources, together with prioritizing socioeconomic growth, much of the reserves remain untapped and in need of significant investment. Stepping into this scene, the second edition of the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power conference and exhibition, taking place from September 1-2, 2022, in Dakar, Senegal, plans to address capital demands by offering a strong case for investment, across the entire regional energy value chain.

The conference agenda has been designed to cover the full spectrum of the energy sector – along with associated industries – including upstream, midstream and downstream segments. By ensuring that topics covered are both inclusive and diverse in scope, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2022 promotes investment while driving dialogue on all facets of the MSGBC energy sector, including socioeconomic development.

Opportunities Across the Sector

Under the theme, ‘The Future of Natural Gas: Growth Using Strategic Investment and Policy Making,’ MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2022 (https://bit.ly/3GIHypC) centers on the key role of natural gas in the MSGBC region. With a variety of panel discussions, the event promotes gas as the fuel of the future, both for the MSGBC region and throughout the African continent.

Discussions will feature detailed insights on current and upcoming projects such as the 15 trillion cubic feet (tcf) Greater Tortue Ahmeyim development; the 20 tcf Yakaar-Teranga project; and the 13 tcf BirAllah liquefied natural gas project, as well as engagements on top priorities such as the role of gas in the energy transition, gas monetization and infrastructure development.

Additionally on the hydrocarbons front, with large-scale projects such as the 100,000 barrel per day Sangomar oilfield development, MSGBC market players prioritize driving developments to maximize the region’s oil potential. On track for first production by 2023, spotlight sessions on the region’s oil market potential will also be a key feature at the event.

Meanwhile, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power also aims to unlock the potential of the region’s renewable energy sector, promoting the region as one of the most lucrative destinations for green energy investment. Opportunities exist across a wide range of renewable energy resources namely, solar, wind, hydropower and hydrogen. Currently, Chariot’s $3.5 billion Mauritanian green hydrogen project; Guinea-Conakry’s 450 MW Souapiti Hydropower Station; and Senegal’s 158 MW Taiba N’Diaye wind farm represent just some of the projects taking off in the region, with future projects slated for 2022 and beyond. With the energy transition as a key global commitment, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2022 will promote the region as the preferred market for clean energy.

Enhancing the Regional Value Chain

In addition to full sector coverage, the event seeks to connect investors with opportunities across the entire value chain, and therefore, will feature discussions, presentations and case studies on the region’s upstream, midstream and downstream industries with aims of kickstarting investment and development. For the region, where infrastructure rollout and downstream development remain slow, securing capital will be critical for triggering growth across the domestic energy market. In this sense, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power will cover a variety of fields including exploration and production; refineries and processing; transportation and distribution; and marketing, as well as local content, capacity building, power and finance. Led by top speakers, these discussions address the challenges and opportunities experienced in the region, while kick starting sustainable growth.

By participating at MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2022, stakeholders will be offered critical insight into current and emerging sectors while gaining a deeper understanding of the range of opportunities present across the regional energy landscape.
