The presence of H.E. Minister Yonis Ali Guedi and a delegation of Ministry and NOC officials at the South Sudan Oil & Power 2022 conference strengthens a strategic regional alliance

South Sudan looks to Djibouti as an export market for energy services and products, as a strategic regional hub for many of its international allies

JUBA, South Sudan, July 12, 2022/APO Group/ --

A ministerial delegation from Djibouti will attend and participate at South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2022 (https://bit.ly/3Ny83jx) – organized by Energy Capital & Power (ECP) (www.EnergyCapitalPower.com) – on September 13-14 in Juba. Led by H.E. Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy, who will speak in person at the event, the delegation includes Dabar Adaweh Ladieh, Director General of the Société Internationale des Hydrocarbures de Djibouti; Wahib Ali Boulo, Director of Hydrocarbons for the Ministry of Energy; Mahdi Waberi Hassan, Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Energy; and H.E. Hassan Robleh, Ambassador of Djibouti to South Sudan.

Representing a strategic base in the Horn of Africa (the United States, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, China and Saudi Arabia have military bases in the country), Djibouti is an important partner for South Sudan across multiple fields including logistics and infrastructure. In the energy sector, Djibouti can gain from the partnership as an importer of oil and fuel and as a country starting on its journey to discover and develop mineral resources. South Sudan looks to Djibouti as an export market for energy services and products, as a strategic regional hub for many of its international allies, and as a partner in regional development.

The participation of the Djibouti delegation at SSOP speaks to a closer alliance between the two countries, and possibly the potential for further cross-border energy projects in the region. SSOP will host important meetings between the Djibouti Ministry of Energy and the South Sudan Ministry of Petroleum, and other petroleum and energy ministers from around the region. “Djibouti is the crossroads between Africa and the Middle East, and it will become an ever more important partner for South Sudan. ECP is honored to welcome this delegation for SSOP 2022 and to host important bilateral discussions,” states James Chester, ECP Senior Director.
